The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Kids Station Toys, has announced a voluntary recall of the Little Tikes brand Chit ‘N Chat Toy Cell Phone. The phone is sold in department stores, toy stores, and drug stores nationwide from June 2006 to March 2008 for about eight dollars individually and twenty dollars for a set. The decision comes after three reports have been made of the toy breaking, and one report of a child choking on a small part. The hinge cover on the toy cell phone can disconnect, creating a choking hazard for young children.

The multi-colored Chit ‘N Chat phone resembles a flip-up style cell phone and has a ten-key numeric button pad and three buttons with pictures of animals. Every button makes a sound when it is pressed. Model numbers KSL4010 (sold separately) or KSL8032, KSL8033, or KSL8051 (sold with other items) are the ones involved in the recall. Toy phones with a screw visible on the hinge cover are not a part of this recall. There are about one million of these dangerous products on the market. If your child has the product, please call Kids Station Toys at (888) 620-0930 between the hours of 8 a.m to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website at www.kidsstationtoys.com to obtain information about receiving a free replacement.
